HOW TO PLAY

Killer vs Villagers is a social deduction game. Killers hide among the group, villagers try to expose them. Deception, logic, and trust will determine who survives.

Role distribution example (8 players): 2 Killers · 1 Hunter · 1 Doctor · 2 Royal Villagers · 2 Local Villagers

Roles

Killer

Evil1 per 4 players

Eliminate all villagers to win.

Ability

Each night, killers secretly vote on a villager to eliminate. They know each other's identities.

Strategy tip

Blend in during day discussions. Never vote against a fellow killer.

Hunter

Good1 per 8 players

Help villagers find and eliminate all killers.

Ability

If the Hunter is eliminated (by killers or vote), they immediately take one player of their choice with them.

Use your power strategically. If you're about to be voted out, reveal yourself and take the most suspicious player.

Doctor

Save villagers from killers and survive.

Ability

Each night, the Doctor chooses one person to protect. If killers target that person, they survive. The Doctor knows who the Royal Villagers are.

Protect yourself when you think killers are targeting you. The Royal Villagers will protect your identity during voting.

Royal Villager

Good~25% of players

Protect the Doctor and help eliminate killers.

Ability

Knows who the Doctor is. Must protect the Doctor during day voting. Royal Villagers don't know each other.

Be subtle when protecting the Doctor — if killers figure out you're a Royal Villager, they'll deduce who the Doctor is.

Local Villager

Good~25% of players

Identify and vote out the killers.

Ability

No special powers — but your vote matters just as much. Use observation, logic, and discussion to find the killers.

Pay attention to who defends whom. Killers often protect each other subtly during voting.

Game Phases

Night Phase

    Everyone closes their eyes.
  2. 2
    Killers open their eyes and silently agree on one player to eliminate.
  3. 3
    Killers close their eyes. Doctor opens their eyes and picks one player to protect.
  4. 4
    Doctor closes their eyes. Mediator announces who was eliminated (unless the Doctor saved them).

Day Phase

  1. 1
    Everyone opens their eyes. The mediator announces any eliminations.
  2. 2
    Eliminated players reveal their role before leaving the game.
  3. 3
    Players discuss and debate who they think the killers are.
  4. 4
    Everyone votes. The player with the most votes is eliminated and reveals their role.

Repeat Night and Day phases until one team wins.

Win Conditions

Villagers Win

All killers have been eliminated through night kills or day voting.

Killers Win

The number of killers equals or outnumbers the remaining villagers.
